The Giving God

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

The rich generosity of God’s grace challenges the human mind’s imagination and trust. James states three tremendous, timeless truths about the innate nature of God and His generosity.

The Giving God is impartial. He wants every one of His children to be ever increasing in wisdom. Therefore, this bountiful blessing is not reserved for an elite few; it is for anyone.

The Giving God is generous. He is magnanimous and liberal in bestowing the desired wealth of wisdom for which His children ask. He is not stingy or miserly as a giver. He does not give grudgingly but bountifully.

The Giving God is not reproachful. Past mistakes and prior misuse of divine blessings are not thrown back in your face. Yesterday’s failures are not impenetrable barriers to divine generosity today. This in no way ought to be considered as approval for folly or poor stewardship. But the fact remains: Your pathetic behavior in the past does not hinder or squelch God’s willing generosity. Jehovah does not refuse your request because you ask too much or too often. Nor does He humiliate, scold, or rebuke you for asking.

No one compares to the Giving God.
