“The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him” (Proverbs 20:7).
The fundamental idea of the Hebrew word tamam (translated here as “integrity”) is of completeness. A righteous person has integrity/completeness because he is seeking to be completely obedient to God; he desires to obey every divine commandment. This passion for a thorough correspondence between God’s will and his life is spiritually healthy and morally upright. It is the fundamental principle by which a righteous person moves, lives, and has his being.
The greatest blessing a man can give his wife and children is to live a life of integrity which results in consistent, righteous behavior. It provides the beloved members of his home with impregnable, enduring stability. Being a spiritual bedrock is the high and holy calling of every man of God.
Living righteously with integrity creates a wonderful, priceless heritage for your offspring—a good name. Its value is much more precious than great riches (Prov. 22:1). Children are blessed when their family name is something they need to live up to, not something they must live down.
Abundantly bless your family by being a righteous man with integrity.
