“He who follows righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor” (Proverbs 21:21).
In Jeremiah’s day, God declared to His people that to find rest for their souls, they would need to stand, see, ask, and walk in the old paths (Jer. 6:16).
Jesus stated that to enjoy the spiritual blessings of wise judgment (Mat. 7:1-6) and answered prayer (Luke 11:1-8) we would need to ask, seek, and knock (Mat. 7:7; Luke 11:9).
Like many of our material blessings, many of the spiritual blessings God gives necessitate personal, diligent pursuit. This proverb identifies the blessings of life, righteousness, and honor as being in this category. To enjoy these blessings, you will need to persistently and intentionally prioritize righteousness and integrity (hesed).
Though God is not playing a game of Hide and Seek, He will not cast His pearls before swine. Therefore, you will need to seek righteousness and integrity so you can find life, righteousness, and honor.
