“There is desirable treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man squanders it” (Proverbs 21:20).
A good steward is not a squanderer (Luke 16:1). Entrusted with the wealth of another, a steward’s responsibility is to manage the owner’s assets carefully and shrewdly.
Wise stewardship economizes constantly. This makes consumables last longer. When this daily practice compounds over time, personal wealth (i.e., “desirable treasure”) will flow like a steady stream in your life.
A fool lives only in the moment, with no thought for tomorrow. Economizing is scoffed at. Material blessings are squandered and quickly consumed. Often, life will become a continuous gyration between splurging on pay day and then barely eking out an existence until the next pay check.
Prodigal living is foolish.
