“Getting treasures by a lying tongue is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death” (Proverbs 21:6).
Every lie you tell lives on borrowed time.
Even if a lie’s deceit is not clearly evident before you die, it—like the lie of hypocrisy—will be revealed by God and made known to all, “for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known” (Luke 12:2). It is written: “all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Rev. 21:8).
So, regardless of whether it is living a lie (i.e., hypocrisy), telling a lie (i.e., deceit), or getting rich by a lying tongue, this spiritual grenade with a pulled pin is ever ticking down to certain detonation and death.
It is a fleeting fantasy to think you can be a teller of lies and not have them blow up in your face.
