A Real Conqueror

“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city” (Proverbs 16:32).

Alexander the Great conquered the world by the age of 31. After a series of day long drinking parties, he died (most likely of self-inflicted alcohol poisoning) at the age of 32. He will forever stand as a classic, historical example of a man who could conquer everyone and everything but himself.

A real conqueror is one who has fought for and gained mastery of himself. Being slow to anger is not a sign of weakness; meekness is the epitome of strength. Volatile, moody, and unpredictable are descriptors of the immature. Being quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger are invaluable and noteworthy traits of a real conqueror.
