“Do not rob the poor because he is poor nor oppress the afflicted at the gate, for the Lord will plead their cause and plunder the soul of those who plunder them” (Proverbs 22:22-23).
For some people, life is little more than a continuous series of risk-reward calculations. There rarely are any principles of right or wrong used to determine the person’s behavior. There is no fear of the Lord as the foundation for their daily decisions. Therefore, if the risk of getting caught or punished is calculated to be less than the reward of exploiting or mistreating another, the poor will be robbed and the afflicted will be oppressed.
What these shortsighted workers of iniquity always fail to include in their risk-reward calculus is Jehovah’s omniscience and righteousness. No one, EVER, gets away with sin. There may be a brief period of time during which their sin has not been exposed, but there is no such thing as a permanent escape (1 Tim. 5:24).
The plunderers will be plundered. Justice will be served.
Every. Time.
I believe justice will be served to those who plunder the rich too.
