Jehovah Will

“The Lord will destroy the house of the proud, but He will establish the boundary of the widow” (Proverbs 15:25).

Jehovah is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him and of those who don’t (2 Thes. 1:6-9). His goodness is enjoyed by those who live by faith in Him. His severity is experienced by those who refuse to love and obey Him.

This proverb provides some specificity to Jehovah’s goodness and severity. The proud will be opposed and destroyed by Him. A frequent prey trapped by the wiles of the proud—the widow (cf. Mat. 23:14)—will be the specific object of His protection.

There are numerous promises in Scripture of what Jehovah will do. Each promise differentiates between those who diligently seek Him and those who don’t. The proud and all the rest of the wicked Jehovah will destroy; the innocent and all of the righteous Jehovah will bless.

  1. And His will does not change on the matter.

The first sentence of the second paragraph reads like Jehovah rewards those who diligently seek Him and those who don’t.
