“…Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them” (Hebrews 11:16).
Just as your family may have that “crazy” relative or “black sheep” which you prefer to distance yourself from, God has members of His family which He is ashamed of and others He is not ashamed of.
He is ashamed of those who are ashamed of Christ and His words in this adulterous and sinful generation (Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26). Nothing about Jesus and His holy word is evil, degenerate, or vile. Therefore, to the pure in heart there is nothing to be ashamed of.
He is not ashamed of those who call Him their God and live in vigorous, focused pursuit of the eternal city which is in their beloved homeland. He eagerly awaits the day He can welcome His faithful children home and eternally shelter them in sweet, everlasting fellowship.
Which part of God’s family do you belong to?
