Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider…Christ Jesus” (Hebrews 3:1).

The Bible does not encourage mindfulness like that taught and practiced in mystical religions. Its goal for meditation is not one of emptying your mind of its contents. Instead, its aim is to focus your thoughts upon profound Bible truth, giving it such close and careful scrutiny that it results in a deeper level of learning and understanding. This is the command of Hebrews 3:1.

Such consideration does not occur accidentally. Busy-ness is its mortal enemy. Purposefulness is an essential prerequisite to this kind of mindfulness.

No Bible character is worthy of close, careful scrutiny and reflection as Jesus. He was no accident in history. His entrance into our world was planned and predicted.

The wonder of His incarnation, the virtue of His character, the submission of His will, the commitment He had to righteousness, the singlemindedness of His daily life, the agony of His death, the victory of His resurrection, the glory of His High Priesthood, the certainty of His final coming and judgment, and many other facets of Him and His being are worthy of a lifetime filled with frequent consideration.

How much consideration do you give Jesus?
