The Impossibility of Neutrality

For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. As it is written: ‘Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, and whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame’ (Romans 9:32-33).

Like so many things in the spiritual world, righteousness via the gospel of Jesus Christ is binary. There is no middle ground; therefore, neutrality is impossible.

According to Jesus Himself, there are only two possible responses to the gospel—obedient faith which brings salvation or disbelief which results in condemnation (Mark 16:15-16).

Jesus Christ is either the chief cornerstone of your life (Matthew 21:42) or a stumbling block and rock of offense (Romans 9:33).

You are either pursuing righteousness before God via the gospel, or you are not.

You are either believing on Him and will not be put to shame, or you are not and will.

Like the apostle Paul (Romans 10:1), God’s heart desires you to be saved. But, your salvation will only come through the Rock He has laid in Zion.

Is Christ your chief cornerstone or stumbling stone?

Neutrality is impossible.
