“Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the wicked; for there will be no prospect for the evil man. The lamp of the wicked will be put out” (Proverbs 24:19-20).
If you are not careful and focused, evildoers can really put you in a spiritual tailspin. In Psalm 73, the psalmist Asaph details the near spiritual catastrophe this can cause.
Evildoers are not the caliber of people you should envy or desire to be with (Prov. 24:1). Their lifestyle of wickedness and evil deeds is not one you should allow to distract you from being focused on living soberly, righteously, and godly before God.
Jehovah’s righteous judgment will always provide the evildoer a full recompense of reward for his wickedness. Therefore, there is no prospect for the evil man. Because divine justice will extinguish the lamp of the wicked, they ought to be pitied, not envied or fretted over.
