In the early days of computer programing, the acronym G.I.G.O. was created. “Garbage In. Garbage Out” encapsulated far more than a single truth about computer technology. It is a basic reality of both the physical and spiritual life.
One of the more common and nauseating rationalizations for wickedness in our society is the shifting of blame from the evildoer to his environment. From Paradise lost in Genesis 3 to Paradise regained in Revelation 22, the Bible incessantly declares that your sin is a personal responsibility: “The soul who sins shall die” (Ez. 18:4, 20).
People are evil because of the wickedness they permit in their hearts. If this spiritual poison is permitted to remain and permeate your heart, it will inevitably spew forth evil from your lips. Evil people do not speak good things because “out of the abundance of the heart their mouth speaks” (Mat. 12:34). Good people speak good things because out of the abundance of the heart their mouth speaks (Luke 6:45).
Hearts which devise violence and evil have lips which talk of troublemaking.
