“A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead” (Proverbs 21:16).
Repeatedly in his counsel, Solomon seeks to stress the intense importance of wisdom and prudence. This proverb is another way of echoing this passionate concern of this wise man.
Wisdom is essential to a spiritually successful life. It must be sought and pursued vigorously. Wisdom must be prioritized and focused on like a laser. A lack of consistent and diligent pursuit of wisdom—i.e., wandering from the path of understanding—is catastrophic and irreversible.
The path of folly has one and only one destination—death.
