“The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no favor in his eyes” (Proverbs 21:10).
The gangrene of wickedness destroys a person spiritually and socially. As Solomon describes it, wickedness is a potent disease of the soul which spawns evil desires and will enslave your heart to its tyrannical yoke. The damage it can do to your inner man is comprehensive and gruesome.
Because of its control over your inner man, wickedness will also destroy you socially. Friends, neighbors, and even family become nothing more than someone to be exploited, manipulated, or coerced to facilitate your wicked desires. There is no brotherly love. There is no loving your neighbor as yourself.
Like those whose eyes are full of adultery (2 Pet. 2:14) and therefore cannot look upon a woman without lusting in his heart, the wicked in heart only view others from the perspective of “How can I use him/her in pursuit of my wicked desire?” His neighbor truly finds no favor, good will, brotherly kindness, or selfless love in his sight!
