“The wicked man does deceptive work, but he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward” (Proverbs 11:18).
Things are not always as they appear. Knowing this truth brings out the worst in the wicked. Not so, with the righteous.
Rather than being thorough and precise in their work, the wicked seek to cut corners. For them, the façade of a job well done is chosen over the reality of careful, accurate, and quality (i.e. circumspect) craftsmanship.
In contrast, the righteous esteem and aim for excellence. A job done right the first time does not have to face the embarrassment of having to be done again.
Every student of the holy Scriptures is a workman before God. Therefore, Paul’s earnest exhortation is: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Tim. 2:15).
What does your handling of God’s word reveal about your character? Does your workmanship identify you as wicked or righteous?
