“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom” (James 3:13).
Biblically speaking, wisdom is far more than an intellectual attainment.
Genuine wisdom is multi-dimensional. In this passage, James gives four significant traits of this precious spiritual treasure:
-
A truly wise person is discerning. He can distinguish between good and evil and also between good, better, and best.
-
A truly wise person is discreet. He understands how to bring the best out of others without being heavy handed or demeaning.
-
A truly wise person demonstrates his wisdom by living an exemplary life which others can easily follow.
-
A truly wise person is disciplined. He does not act rashly or impulsively. He conducts himself with meekness (i.e., power under control).
