When life’s trials are challenging and unrelenting, Satan’s lying lips are busiest. Spiritual battles rage the hottest when the devil buffets us the hardest. Resisting temptation increases in difficulty as the wicked one increases his bombardment of lies. Under such an attack, the patriarch Job persevered; his wife did not.
Regardless of what happens to you in life and regardless of what lies Satan spews forth, this truth remains constant: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17). This is an unchanging and unchangeable fact.
Though slandered constantly by Satan, God is ever good. Everything God does, every gift He bestows is good (useful, beneficial) and perfect (exactly what is needed). God’s nature is such that it is impossible for Him to give a gift to His children which is not good and perfect.
Like the unrelenting light of the desert sun at high noon on a cloudless day, God’s goodness never changes. It is not like the moon which waxes and wanes. It is constantly constant.
Believing in God’s goodness and holding on to it during life’s diverse trials are essentials to spiritual victory. Don’t doubt it.
