“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone” (James 1:13).
God lovingly allows you to be blessed with various trials in life (James 1:12). This truth, however, does not accurately imply that God is the source of anyone’s temptations to sin (James 1:13). James categorically forbids accusing God of being the father of temptation. This is as impossible as it is unthinkable for two reasons:
-
God’s character. He is so holy and pure that evil never appeals to Him. Evil always is utterly abhorrent to Him.
-
God’s actions. His character necessitates only holy behavior. Therefore, He tests your character and ever seeks to purify your faith, increase your integrity, and draw you closer to Him. It is impossible for Him to seek the ruination of your faith, the weakening of your character, and/or your separation from Him.
Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren, temptation and sin in your life is NEVER God’s doing!
