“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light…finding out what is acceptable to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:8, 10).
Unlike the sons of disobedience who live in service of the tyrant called “self”, children of light focus their lives on serving their Lord who loved them and gave Himself for them.
To become a child of light you must dethrone self (Mark 8:34), die to sin (Romans 6:2), and focus your energy and attention on discovering and learning to like what is acceptable to your Lord and Savior.
To do this you must cultivate and increase your hunger for Christ’s will and your love for Christ’s ways.
Just as a wise wife seeks to please her husband and increase intimacy in their marriage by increasing her interest in the things which interest him, so Christ’s holy bride zealously desires to discover what is acceptable to Him and increase her focus and proficiency in them.
