Jesus Loves Me, This I Know–Part One

“that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge” (Ephesians 3:17-19).

Jesus loves me, this I know because His incarnation tells me of the depth of His love. Though being in the form of God, Jesus did not consider it robbery to be equal with God. Instead, He made Himself of no reputation, took the form of a servant, and came in the likeness of men (Philippians 2:5-6).

Though possessing all the powers and prerogatives of deity, Jesus voluntarily became utterly dependent upon His Father. He resigned His autonomy and became the model of perfect submission. No greater exchange has ever been made. No deeper humiliation has ever been volunteered for.

Oh, the depth of Jesus’ love!
