The Danger of Wandering

“Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who wanders from his place” (Proverbs 27:8).

For a bird, its nest is divinely intended to be a place of safety, protection, and care. Baby chicks hatch from the eggs which have been laid and brooded over there. Young nestlings and fledglings are fed by parents and protected from predators while they mature into independence. The fundamental needs of a bird family are met in its nests.

For humans, the home is divinely intended to be a place of safety, protection, and care. Infants are born into families. Toddlers and youngsters are cared for by their parents who strive diligently to protect their innocence and see that they are brought up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Just as a nest is imperative to the health and well-being of birds, the home is imperative to the health and well-being of humans. To wander away from God’s plan for birds or humans is foolish and deadly.
