“Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words” (Proverbs 23:9).
Some people’s appreciation for spiritual things is like a hog’s appraisal of pearls. Because his god is his belly, trying to teach a pig the beauty and value of a string of pearls is a surefire waste of time and energy. Self-righteous people who engage in hypercritical and hypocritical judgment are spiritually unclean (Mat. 7:1-6).
Seeking to impart knowledge, prudence, and wisdom to a fool who has no appetite for such is a colossal waste of time and energy. You are trying to give him things he does not want. He sees no value in them. Like a pig with pearls, he will trample them under foot and then turn to tear you in pieces with spite.
Don’t waste your breath.
