“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).
Some things are impossible for humans to do but not God: “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” (Matthew 19:26). Some things are impossible even for God to do: “it is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18). And some things are impossible because they are inherently self-contradictory: being pleasing to God without faith.
Just as it is impossible to stand on lame legs (Acts 14:8) and just as the Old Testament law—with its sacrifices of bulls and goats (Hebrews 10:4)—was unable to make anyone righteous (Romans 8:1-5), so it is impossible to please God without faith.
The conviction that God is and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him which produces genuine trust and joyful obedience in your life day-by-day is essential. It is impossible to please God without it.
Impossible.
