Willful Sin

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries” (Hebrews 10:26-27).

Boldness in prayer, confession of hope, and assembling weekly with the saints (Hebrews 10:22-25) are three of the greatest privileges/responsibilities of being a Christian.

Every Christian who neglects these responsibilities/privileges for any length of time will quickly find himself in grave spiritual danger. In fact, when this neglect has become a habit, it is impossible to exaggerate the peril. A lifestyle which neglects these basic responsibilities burns the essential bridges needed to reunite a lost child of God with His Father and reignite his spiritual zeal.

There no longer remains a sacrifice for sins because the willful sinner has turned his back on his great, forever High Priest. Rejecting God’s appointed Savior and solution to your sins leaves you with only one option—a certain fearful expectation of judgment and God’s fiery indignation toward you, His child-turned-adversary.
