What God Did!

For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh” (Romans 8:3).

From the very beginning of Scripture, what God did is reported and recorded.

What God did to weave His scarlet thread of His eternally-purposed plan of human salvation into human history begins with the promise of the seed of woman in Genesis 3:15. The virgin’s conception of a son called Immanuel (Matthew 1:23)—the Word becoming flesh and pitching His tent with us (John 1:1, 14), God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be our essential, atoning Lamb (John 1:29) is a momentous act of God in human history.

Christ’s condemnation of human sin by living a sinless life, convicting His contemporaries of their wickedness and evil is a momentous act of God in human history.

Christ’s fulfillment of every righteous jot and tittle of the Law and every Messianic prediction uttered by God’s servants the prophets is a momentous act of God in human history.

Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, which enables those who are baptized into His death to be raised to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:3-4), is a momentous act of God in human history.

The apostles’ baptism of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost in Jerusalem ten days after the Son of God’s return to heaven—giving them the Spirit of truth to guide them into all truth (John 16:13), so that we can know how to walk according to the spirit and not according to the flesh (Romans 8:4) is a momentous act of God in human history.

Many additional items could be added to God’s “Got it Done” list. This will suffice.

Clearly, Jehovah “Got-ur-dun”! What are you doing in response to all God has done?
