Vile Passions

“For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise, also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due” (Romans 1:26-27).

Every effect has a cause. Moral and spiritual uncleanness is an effect atheism causes. In turn, moral and spiritual uncleanness is the cause of vile passions. As the evil of ungodliness and unrighteousness continues to metastasize in a person’s heart and soul, vile passions—the unnatural, shameful perversions of lesbianism and sodomy—result.

In the agricultural world, the law of sowing and reaping is a universal application of cause and effect. A life in which are sown the seeds of suppressing the truth and exchanging the truth of God for a lie results in a sure harvest of God-ordained effects. Vile passions are not a coincidence; they are a consequence. God is not mocked by such a profound perversion of His gift of human sexuality. The shame and penalty of this enormous error is borne completely by those who embrace this fundamental violation of human nature.

The abyss of vile passions awaits all who reject God and the perfect spiritual guidance found in His word, the truth (John 17:17).
