“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:11-12).
God and all humanity have a common enemy—the devil, a slanderer who seeks to pit humanity against God and one another. He is also called Satan because of his relentless pursuit of our spiritual and eternal destruction. Nothing gives him greater pleasure than the increasing number of fatalities he has spawned in our world’s pandemic of sin and death.
He is a murderer and liar (John 8:44). He is a thief (John 10:6). He is a deceiver (Revelation 12:9).
He is always up to no good (Job 2:2; 2 Corinthians 6:15).
He is subtle like a serpent (Genesis 3:1; 2 Corinthians 11:3). He prowls about like a hungry lion (1 Peter 5:8). He is fearsome like an enraged dragon (Revelation 12:9, 17).
As he seeks to subject every human to his will, using any of his diabolical methods of attack, it is a Christian soldier’s responsibility to stand his ground (Ephesians 6:11, 13). Not one inch of ground is to be surrendered through compromise or retreat.
In the face of this arch enemy of God and man, your responsibility is and ever will be to STAND! (Ephesians 6:14) by being strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10).
The whole armor of God is essential to victory.
