Though many may agree with the sentiment expressed by an atheist when he declared “Christianity is for losers”, the truth is Christianity is for winners. Through Christ, you are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). Only in Christ is the power to conquer tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, and sword (Romans 8:35). Neither death nor life, angels, principalities, nor powers, things present nor things to come, height nor depth, nor any other created things (Romans 8:38-39) can defeat you when you are equipped for spiritual warfare by the Lord and are being strengthened with might through the Holy Spirit in the inner man (Ephesians 3:16).
Your entire life is lived on the front lines of an intense, ongoing spiritual war. The captain of your salvation has secured a sure path to victory (Revelation 12:11). The complete destruction of the enemy is certain (1 John 3:8; Revelation 20:11-15).
This victory does not come to you without obeying these three imperatives:
- Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11).
- Take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:13).
- Stand therefore (Ephesians 6:14).
