“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” (Ephesians 6:1).
Relativists and postmodernists are wrong: There are some things in life which are always the right thing to do, and a child’s obedience to his parents is one of them.
It was the right thing to do in Moses’ day, over three thousand years ago (Deuteronomy 21:18-21). It was the right thing to do in Jesus’ day, about two thousand years ago (Luke 2:51). It is the right thing to do today and will remain the right thing to do as long as there is human life on planet Earth (Ephesians 6:1).
Respect for authority (Ephesians 6:2-3) and obedience to those who have divinely assigned authority over you (Ephesians 6:1) are essential to a vibrant and healthy community. Adhering to all the timeless principles of righteousness are.
Only people with debased minds advocate the heinous evil of disobedience to one’s parents (Romans 1:28, 30). In God’s eyes, both those who herald and those who heed such worthless, toxic counsel are deserving of death (Romans 1:32).
