“There is one body…one Spirit…one hope…one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God” (Ephesians 4:4-6).
It is the only whole number larger than 0 and smaller than 2.
Subtract the seven ones from Ephesians 4:4-6 and there is absolute chaos and despair—no salvation, no revelation, no reason for optimism about the future, no authority. Atheism is true; might does make right; and every man is justified to do what is right in his own eyes. Spiritual and political tyranny are completely justified. What a horrific ditch!
Add to the seven ones of Ephesians 4:4-6 and there is also chaos and despair—nothing is certain because everything is subjective. If it does not matter in any way what you believe and who you serve, then it does not matter if you believe. Like atheism, denominationalism–the modern manifestation of polytheism–also results in every man doing what is right in his own eyes. What a horrific ditch!
