One of the Privileges of Praying in Jesus’ Name

Heaven is depicted in the Bible’s final book as a city with impregnable security. It has a great and high wall (Revelation 21:12) which makes it impossible for “anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie” to enter (Revelation 21:27). Outside its confines are “dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie” (Revelation 22:15). Around the throne of heaven is an innumerable host (thousands of thousands, ten thousand times ten thousand) of holy and pristine beings—angels, living creatures, and the elders (Revelation 5:11).

Considering such tight security and without any security clearance of my own, how can I possibly be granted an audience with the great I AM? On my own merits, my case is hopeless: God does not hear sinners.

No one comes to the Father except through Christ (John 14:6). “For through Him we both (i.e. Jew and Gentile) have access by one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18).

ACCESS…“the peaceful presentation of an emissary before a king”.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, “we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:2).

According to the eternal purpose accomplished by God in Christ Jesus our Lord, “we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him” (Ephesians 3:11-12).

Because of the blessed name of Jesus, I do not have to try to do the impossible—i.e. covertly sneak into heaven, slip through a secure back door, and try to steal a few crumbs from God’s plenteous storeroom of blessings. NEVER!

Because of the blessed name of Jesus, I enter the pristine throne room of the universe with sufficient credentials and proper security clearance. I receive an audience with the One whose seraphim and cherubim veil their faces and feet while in His presence (Isaiah 6:2).

ACCESS.

What a privilege!
