Your Mouth

“The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked…Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction” (Proverbs 10:11, 14).

Like the God who spoke time, space, and matter into existence and then created humanity in His image, our words have great power.  Our mouths can be a refreshing fountain of blessing to others or a force for evil and destruction.  Truly, life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).

The mouth is one of the surest indicators of a person’s true character.  The righteous, the wicked, the wise, and the foolish have their own distinctive speech.

Like Peter, your speech betrays you (Matthew 26:73).  What does your use of your tongue say about you and your character?
