“The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked…Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction” (Proverbs 10:11, 14).
Like the God who spoke time, space, and matter into existence and then created humanity in His image, our words have great power. Our mouths can be a refreshing fountain of blessing to others or a force for evil and destruction. Truly, life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).
The mouth is one of the surest indicators of a person’s true character. The righteous, the wicked, the wise, and the foolish have their own distinctive speech.
