Benjamin Franklin is credited with the maxim “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.” Is this not the reasoning behind many people who preemptively get vaccines for polio, influenza, typhoid, malaria, pneumonia, and a host of other possible diseases? If preventing a physical ailment is a wise course of action, how much more the prevention of spiritual diseases?
Because of the devastation, danger, harm, folly, destruction, and dishonor that results when fornication occurs (Proverbs 6:26-33), Solomon passionately exhorts his son to not be seduced by the flattering lips of an immoral woman, nor lust after her beauty, nor be allured by her eyes (Proverbs 6:24-25).
Because He is a loving Father, Jehovah ever desires to prevent the heartache, shame, and horror of sin in our lives. The instructions found in Scripture were written so that you and I may avoid sin (1 John 2:1).
Preventing sin in your life is wisest and best.
