The Authority and Blessings of Wisdom
Every field of study—economics, mathematics, medicine, chemistry, et. al—has its fundamentals. Like the foundational building blocks that amino acids are to proteins, each sphere of inquiry has its ABC’s. Wisdom, the art of living life acceptably before God, is no exception.
The law of gravity is not a mere suggestion for the rocket scientist. The law of biogenesis is not a quaint possibility to the biologist. They are called “laws” of nature because they are omnipresent and inescapable.
In Proverbs 3:1, Solomon—the concerned father—reminds his son that wisdom also has her laws and commands. Like the laws of science, wisdom is not merely a series of hints, tips, and suggestions. Therefore, Solomon states, “My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands.”
When one learns and lives in wise harmony with the laws of nature, he can thrive and prosper. When one learns and lives in wise harmony with the laws of wisdom, “length of days and long life and peace they will add to you” (Proverbs 3:2). The abundant life is the blessing of wisdom.
Have you learned the laws of wisdom? Are you living in harmony with them?
