“Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint” (Proverbs 25:19).
As wonderful and refreshing as a reliable person is (Prov. 25:13), the unreliable person is a stressful, anxiety-producing experience. Tooth pain is an unforgettable torture. A broken foot which you must continue to use while it heals is equally torturous.
When difficult times arise and the need for a steady, reliable person is elevated, the last thing you want to have as your only ally is an unfaithful, untrustworthy person. The stress and challenge inherently in your situation explode exponentially. Few people are as stressful and toxic as one who is painfully unreliable.
