“The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against the Lord” (Proverbs 19:3).
Because a fool does not live in obedience to God’s objective standard of morality and ethics, the path of his life is crooked. It twists and turns as he gets tossed about by his feelings as they ebb and flow or by every wind of doctrine which sends him careening from one false extreme to another. He foolishly twists on the broad way which always leads to destruction. This is the path and eternal destination of folly.
While on this path, a fool is ever at war with God, His goodness, His kindness, and His providence. Today is too hot. Yesterday was too cold. Tomorrow will be too sunny or too cloudy. Never any gratitude. Never any contentment. Something always to fret and complain about. Anxiety. Unrest. Ever tossed about like flotsam and jetsam on the waves of life’s sea until vomited onto the sands of eternity a stinking, worthless mess.
Crookedness and fretfulness. Fools are the reason every generation is crooked and perverse (Phil. 2:15).
Two traits of the foolish.
