“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21).
An obvious, yet important, take away from the first chapter of Genesis is that when God speaks, things happen. The word of God is living and powerful.
This trait of God is also reflected in humans made in His image. The words of your mouth have the awesome ability to destroy and crush (Job 19:2) or edify and encourage (Acts 4:36).
The quality of your life will be determined by the flavor of your words. If your speech is harsh, sour, and bitter, your life will reap the produce of your lips. If your speech is kind, cheerful, and tender, your life will reap a different harvest.
Choose your words and tone wisely.
