“The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied from above” (Proverbs 14:14).
Apostasy begins in the heart, the helm of your spiritual ship (Prov. 4:23). Once your heart is disloyal to God and off course, the hands and feet will soon follow.
Simon of Samaria was “poisoned by bitterness and bound in iniquity (Acts 8:23) because his heart was not right in the sight of God (Acts 8:21). He needed to repent and pray God for the forgiveness of the thought of his backslidden heart (Acts 8:22).
The backslider in heart will be repaid for having an evil heart. Therefore, brethren, we must beware lest there be in any one of us an evil heart of unbelief which is departing from the living God (Heb. 3:12).
