Evil Pursues Sinners

“Evil pursues sinners, but to the righteous, good shall be repaid” (Proverbs 13:21).

God is not mocked, nor is He deceived (Gal. 6:7). He who discerns the thoughts and intents of every human heart (Heb. 4:12) guarantees you will reap what you sow. He is a just rewarder of both evil and righteous behavior (Heb. 11:6), and there is nowhere in this universe you can flee from His presence (Ps. 139:7-10). There is no condition by which you can be hidden from His ever-watchful eye (Ps. 139:11-12).

Not all sins are punished justly in this life, but all sinners on earth live with the torment of sin’s consequences—guilt, shame, and fear. A lack of peace and self-respect are gruesome fruits which thrive in a guilty conscience. No one “gets away” with sin. Evil pursues and haunts a sinner until he either repents or perishes.

Those who pursue righteousness are wise because the ugly horrors and scars of sin are avoided. Instead of a bitter harvest of evil, God blesses the righteous with an abundant life of peace, joy, and hope. It is the righteous who will enter through the gates of the eternal city and be given the right to the tree of life (Rev. 22:14).
