Truthful Lips vs. a Lying Tongue

“The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment…Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are His delight” (Proverbs 12:19, 22).

Your words will either be an eternal blessing to you or an everlasting curse. They will either justify or condemn you (Mat. 12:37).

Because the righteous God loves the righteous use of the human tongue, the truthful lips will be established forever. Those who deal truthfully are a delight to Jehovah.

Because lying lips are an abomination to the righteous God, a lying tongue may find momentary success or pleasure, but it will have no lasting harvest of loveliness.

Everyone seeking to love life and see good days must “refrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit…For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil” (1 Pet. 3:10-12; Ps. 34:12-16).

Whether you have truthful lips or a lying tongue is a matter of eternal importance.
