“Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but counselors of peace have joy. No grave trouble will overtake the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil” (Proverbs 12:20-21).
Just as you cannot pick corn in a potato patch, you cannot live like the Devil and enjoy the blessings of the righteous.
Peace of mind, the calm of a clear conscience, and joy in the midst of difficult times are possible for all but are only enjoyed by the righteous. God is a rewarder of these who hunger and thirst for righteousness, and He will never be deceived or mocked by the wicked who devise evil in their heart.
The righteous will always have friction from the unrighteous; they are headed in opposite direction on the road called life. But nothing will befall the righteous which they are unable to recover from. God’s eyes and ears are ever open to them (1 Pet. 3:12).
Not so with the wicked. Like the righteous, they will reap what they sow. Therefore, they will be filled up with evil and punished by God’s wrath.
You cannot live like the devil and enjoy the blessings of the righteous.
