“The desire of the righteous is only good, but the expectation of the wicked is wrath” (Proverbs 11:23).
Each of us has an innate sense of fairness. We know how we want to be treated; and, though we may not admit it openly, we know when we have treated others unfairly.
The righteous love unselfishly. They have good will toward everyone. Therefore, they genuinely desire good for all. That is how they think.
The wicked are selfish. They envy, resent, and often speak insincerely and hypocritically. Like the righteous, they will reap what they sow (Gal. 6:7), but the only thing they can rightfully expect from a just God is His wrath upon their wickedness.
