“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith” (Hebrews 11:7).
Noah is an excellent illustration of the timeless truths affirmed about faith in the ten previous verses of Hebrews:
-
“Noah…became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith” clearly demonstrates “the just shall live by faith” (Hebrews 10:38).
-
“… being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household” reflects the declaration that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).
-
“By faith Noah…moved with godly fear (and) prepared an ark for the saving of his household…” confirms that without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).
-
“…by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith” affirms that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
Regardless of whether you live prior to the flood or after, prior to Calvary or after, faith in God and its importance are unchanging.
