“For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, for the Law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God” (Hebrews 7:18-19).
Figuring out whether the Law of Moses or the gospel of Christ is the superior covenant from God is the ultimate No Brainer. The book of Hebrews is saturated with comparisons which all point to the same conclusion: Christ’s new covenant is exceedingly, abundantly, and vastly superior.
This passage makes this point by stating the truth that the former commandment was inherently weak in its priesthood and unprofitable in its goal of providing complete reconciliation to God and intimate fellowship with Him. Try as mightily as it could, the Law delivered to Moses at Mount Sinai made nothing perfect.
On the other hand, the gospel has brought the hope of eternal life with God. Through its High Priest we can draw near to God and obtain mercy and grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
Deciding whether the Law of Moses on the one hand or the gospel of Christ on the other hand is the superior covenant is an absolute No Brainer.
