“…to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen” (Romans 16:27).
Throughout history, human ingenuity and creativity has attacked and solved countless challenging problems. As a result, electricity has been harnessed; gravity has been defied; outer space has been entered; the atom has been discovered.
None of these many noteworthy solutions, however, is comparable to the brilliance of God’s wisdom in solving the humanity’s oldest, universal problem: sin. Only Jehovah’s manifold wisdom could eternally purpose, minutely foreshadow, prophetically predict, and bring to perfect realization the gospel of Jesus Christ and its incredible power for salvation from sin’s guilt, slavery, and stain.
As the inspired apostle has so exquisitely explained in the previous 432 verses of Romans, God alone is wise enough to solve the evil of besetting sin. His solution is thorough, lacking in nothing. His solution is universal; no sinner’s spiritual mess is so egregious he is beyond the potent saving power of the gospel. His solution is not mythical; it is woven into the warp and woof of human history. His solution is not theoretical; the chief of sinners is living proof of its redemptive power.
God—and God alone—is wise enough to solve every human’s greatest, most challenging problem. And, He did.
To Him be glory through Jesus Christ forever.
