“The night is far spent; the day is at hand. Therefore, let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy” (Romans 13:12-13).
The urgency of today is seen in its pressing need for spiritual vigilance and energetic opposition to evil. You are ever in conflict with either good or evil. Neutrality is neither desirable nor possible. Therefore, let us…
-
Cast off the works of darkness. Too much time in the past has already been wasted in sinful pursuits. Now is the time to personally and deliberately separate yourself from sin and its vile practices. You have died with Christ to sin, now you need to put to death all sinful practices in your life.
-
Put on the armor of light. God has not called us to the battle with evil without fully equipping us for victory. There is not a moment to waste. Now is the time to personally and deliberately get dressed for spiritual conflict.

Live appropriately. God has a code of conduct for His family. Jesus has certain, holy expectations for His disciples/bride. The Holy Spirit has certain regal, sanctified requirements for His temple. Therefore, imbibing in alcoholic spirits is over; be filled with the Holy Spirit instead (Ephesians 5:18). Living licentiously in pursuit of carnal, immoral pleasures is over; be holy, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, and conduct yourself honorably among all. Being selfish and toxic through strife and envy is over; be a peacemaker, learn contentment, and rejoice with others when they are blessed.
This is a “let us” patch that all of us need to be in.
