“who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them” (Romans 1:32).
The unbelief which arises from a harden heart is solemnly addressed in Scripture. It is no laughing matter. It is an eternal travesty when a person has so little and so low regard of God and His righteous judgment that he cultivates a debased mind, practices the vile evils God plainly condemns, and approves of those who also practice them.
Wickedness and the love of it grow as noxious weeds in a spiritually fallow heart in which there is no fear of God (Psalm 36:1). Such a person “flatters himself in his own eyes when he finds out his iniquity and when he hates. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; he has ceased to be wise and to do good. He devises wickedness on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not abhor evil” (Psalm 36:2-4).
Clearly, suppressing the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18), being unmoved by the knowledge of God’s righteous judgment (Romans 1:32)—in which the Lord Jesus will take vengeance in flaming fire on those who do not know God and those who do not obey the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8), and/or hypocritically condemning others who imitate your wicked practices while believing yourself exempt from God’s wrath (Romans 2:1) is not the right or wise way to live on this earth. Fearing God and keeping His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14) is.
