“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’” (Romans 1:17).
As they appear in the Greek text, this English phrase is but two words—an adverb (kathos) and a verb (gegraptai). Though few in number, they are mighty and impactful.
“As it is written” is an undiminishing testament to the preciseness of God’s word. The Scriptures’ precise predictive prophecies and their exact (“just as”) fulfillment in human history is plenteous and irrefutable.
Just as Moses predicted (Deuteronomy 18:15-18) fifteen hundred years earlier, Jesus was a prophet-redeemer who arose from the descendants of Abraham (Acts 3:20-23).
Just as Isaiah predicted (Isaiah 7:14) seven hundred years earlier, Jesus was conceived in the womb of a virgin (Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:30-35).
Just as Micah predicted (Micah 5:2) seven hundred years earlier, Jesus was born in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:4-6).
Just as Hosea predicted (Hosea 11:1) seven hundred years earlier, Jesus was taken to Egypt before He grew up in Nazareth (Matthew 2:13-15).
Just as Malachi predicted (Malachi 4:5-6) four hundred years earlier, Jesus had a forerunner who prepared the hearts of the people for His ministry (Luke 1:16-17; Matthew 3:1-3).
Just as Zechariah predicted (Zechariah 11:12) four hundred fifty years earlier, Jesus was betrayed by an associate for thirty pieces of silver (Matthew 26:14-15).
Just as David predicted (Psalm 16:10) a thousand years earlier, Jesus was resurrected on the third day after His death (Luke 24:1-6; Acts 2:25-31).
Just as Daniel predicted (Daniel 7:13-14) five hundred years earlier, Jesus ascended to heaven and was crowned King of kings and Lord of lords (Acts 1:9-11; Ephesians 1:20-23).
The (so called) “prophecies” of Nostradamus or any other uninspired seer is in no way comparable to the precise predictive prophecies of Moses, Isaiah, Micah, Hosea, Malachi, Zechariah, David, Daniel, and other Bible prophets and their exact (“as it is written”) fulfillment in human history.
“As it is written” is a testament to the preciseness of God’s word.
